A Facial Hair Affair - Chris Curren and Blue 13's Fundraiser to Fight Cancer
When I was growing up one of the most distinct memories was that of my uncle, Richard Curren's beard. Thick and bushy, all my life it was one of the defining asthectics to his look and personality. In September of 2006 Rick was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, but instead of giving in to this horrible disease, he spent the remainder of his life doing the things he had always wanted to do. Traveling, spending time with family, and getting the most out of life that he could.

On January 14th, 2009 Rick Curren lost his battle with cancer with his younger brother Dave and older brother Ed by his side. He was 57 years old. Recently I have become an uncle myself to a beautiful little girl Hannah Curren. While contemplating this new title I thought much about my own uncle and how I could make a difference. So i figured every Curren child deserves to, at least one point in their life, have an uncle with a big bushy beard.

I then decided to translate that into something positive as well. I will continue to grow my beard for the next three months and ask that you make a contribution in Richard P. Curren's name to the American Cancer Society. This will help the fight against Pancreatic Cancer so that my neice and future members of our family won't have to lose someone they love in the same way we have.

Thank you for your contributions and you can follow the photo journal of the beard via facebook. Please follow this link to donate.
